Erin-Claire Barrow is an author and illustrator who explores, retells and subverts traditional fairy tales and folklore.
Her book The Adventurous Princess and Other Feminist Fairy Tales challenges the gender norms, stereotypes and lack of diversity found in many traditional fairy tales through illustrated retellings of these favourite stories.
She is the creator of The Adventurer's Guide to Surviving the Folklore Wilderness, helping hapless travellers survive encounters with creatures from the folklore of the British Isles and surrounds.
In 2018, she spoke at TEDx Canberra on retelling fairy tales for our diverse, modern society to challenge stereotypes and encourage young people (and especially young women) to see themselves as the heroes of their own stories.
